FAQs

  • Walk & Talk therapy takes your therapy sessions outdoors! This will usually occur at a nearby park or hiking trail in the Town of East Aurora. The purpose is to infuse the benefits of nature and movement into the therapy session. Nature has a healing effect for most people, myself included, and is correlated to improvements in overall mood and well-being.

  • Water bottle, sneakers, comfortable clothing, and sun protection!

  • Same as in-person or telehealth visits: Right around 55 minutes.

  • I love dogs! I am all for meeting your pup, but it may be a good idea to switch up how much your dog joins you, as they may become a distraction to the therapeutic process.

  • After our initial intake session at my office or via telehealth, we can begin walk and talk sessions. We will meet up at a predetermined location at our scheduled appointment time and walk around the trail/park side by side. As we walk, we will check in and work on our therapeutic goals, just like we would in an office setting! Sometimes we may stop, sit down to do a therapeutic activity, or do some light stretching to begin/end a session.

  • Once you begin to venture out of the office, there are less controls over privacy of session. There is always a possibility that I or my client will come across someone we may know. There is also a chance conversations may be overheard. Together, we will set up boundaries beforehand, for example how to proceed if we know someone, how often to stop and rest, and what could be a code word if you want to stop talking about a subject for a few seconds as someone passes on the trail. We will discuss any concerns prior to our first walk and talk, so that you can make an informed decision!
